Key West Stages Come Alive With Theater Performances

Key West is known for its vibrant culture and the 2023 performing arts season promises to be an exciting one. With a variety of musicals, comedies, and dramas, audiences are sure to find a show that sparks their interest.
The Red Barn Theatre is bringing the comedy “The Code” to the stage from March 7-25. Directed by Michael McKeever, the play humorously explores the hypocrisy of what it took to be a man in Hollywood in the 1950s. Other productions from Red Barn Theatre include “Short Attention Span Theatre” from April 4-29, which is filled with pertinent and hilarious short plays.
The Waterfront Playhouse is putting on the Tony Award-winning musical “Kinky Boots” from February 15 - March 18. Other performances include “Trunk Material 4: A Broadway Musical Revue”, a celebration of Tennessee Williams’ artistry in “Suddenly Last Summer”, “Three Tall Women”, and the comic mystery “Arsenic and Old Lace”.
Fringe Theater Key West is presenting a series of performances at the Armory, 600 White St. Notable shows include “El Isleño 1921: The Untold Key West Story”, a powerful telling of a true Key West story of love, crime, and resilience, and “A Woman of the World”, a hilarious one-woman show at the Key West Woman’s Club.
The Tennessee Williams Theatre is offering exciting musical and theatrical entertainment as well. Notable performances include “The Simon & Garfunkel Story”, “Neil Berg’s 50 Years of Rock n’ Roll, Part III”, “Tony Danza: Standards & Stories”, “R.E.S.P.E.C.T: A Celebration of the Music of Aretha Franklin”, and “On Your Feet! The Story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan”.
As you can see, with so many amazing shows to choose from, the 2023 performing arts season in Key West is sure to be a season to remember.
