Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden: Join the Garden Guardians

At the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden, the Garden Guardians volunteer initiative invites enthusiasts to help maintain and restore one of Key West's most cherished natural treasures. The Garden Guardians meet every Wednesday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Under the guidance of Audrey Thompson, a certified arborist and respected garden docent, volunteers receive expert training on preserving the lush tropical environment.

This unique program not only offers hands-on gardening experience but also provides an educational journey into the world of tropical moist forests. Visitors have the opportunity to explore a living museum that boasts 450 plant species, 35 butterfly species, and 160 bird species. Participation is open to anyone with a passion for nature, with no long-term commitment required—just genuine enthusiasm. Embracing this chance to learn about vital forest conservation, volunteers gain insight into why tropical moist forests are essential for global biodiversity.
