NAS Key West 27th Annual Dolphin Derby Fishing Tournament

The NAS Key West 27th Annual Dolphin Derby Fishing Tournament, a celebrated event among the fishing community, is poised to take place under the auspices of Captain Hooks Marina and Dive Center. The Captain's meeting, a crucial part of the tournament, is scheduled for May 26 at 6 p.m. at the Sunset Lounge Bar on Sigsbee Park, with the representation of each participating boat being mandatory. The tournament will commence on the following day, Saturday, May 27, with the lines in at sunrise and weigh-in starting at 3 p.m., extending until 5 p.m.
- The tournament is open to all patrons possessing a valid military-issued ID card and their guests.
- However, only one military ID card holder, acting as the sponsor, is required per boat.
- All other anglers must be sponsored.
- In an interesting twist, anglers are now allowed to possess a Captain's License, and each boat can accommodate up to six people.
Registration is crucial and the forms are available at the Sigsbee Marina, with all completed forms to be submitted at the same place. Be aware that the deadline for registration is May 26 at 5 p.m. The early registration fee, applicable from May 1-14, is $225, and the standard registration fee from May 15-26 is $275.
- Participants will be competing for a first-place prize of $1,000, with second and third places fetching $700 and $300 respectively.
